A VISION FOR FORT WAYNE

Phase II known as Posterity Place (a $10,370,536 NMTC investment), this phase adds an additional investment in the lives of not only our scholars but all residents of Southeast Fort Wayne and ultimately the entire city and region. It is set to break ground Fall of 2017 with two fundamental elements vital to community redevelopment; the Housing Life Development and Innovation Resource Center (HLDIRC) and Commercial Center. The HLDIRC will provide LABS as a business accelerator and incubator to develop and grow rich tech businesses to explore one's genius.

Phase II known as Posterity Place adds an additional investment in the lives of not only our scholars but all residents of southeast of Fort Wayne and ultimately the entire city and region with two fundamental elements vital to community redevelopment: The Housing Life Development and Innovation Resource Center (HLDIRC) and Health and Commercial Retail Center. Posterity Place will provide for a socio-economically challenged community an echo system that helps replace the destructive habits that produce crime, poverty and unemployment with positive, supportive and transformative services designed to promote personal development, homeownership, skill development, small business incubation, acceleration and entrepreneurial opportunities. Ivy Tech, Indiana Tech, Purdue Fort Wayne and St. Francis University will each lease space within the development and offer degree credentialed, certifications and trade development to the community residents.

The HLDIRC will provide LABS as a business accelerator and incubator to develop and grow tech businesses to explore one's genius. With some guidance, it will help aspiring entrepreneurs capitalize on its greatest opportunities that will build the southeast commercial potential, Posterity Place Food and Shops. The sponsor(s) will be the master tenant with it's My Market Grocery Store being supported by several well established sub-tenants. Tenants include, Restaurant, Coffee Shop and start ups. Approximately 110 new, quality paying jobs will be created for community residents. Joshua's Child Development Academy (currently located less than a ½ mile in the Joshua's Temple Church facility to be constructed in phase II) will be provided the following for Scholar House parents who have preschool and school age children: Convenient hours of service Monday – Friday, 6am – 9:00pm, Before/After school care,Tuition assistance options, including sliding fee scale rates, CCDF vouchers, and On My Way PreK Level 4 – Paths to QUALITY and accredited by NAEYC A preschool curriculum that prepares children to enter kindergarten ready to continue learning because they will experience:

  • Qualitative Instruction and nurturing

  • Acceptance

  • Affirmation

  • Love

  • Safe Environment

  • Parent support through family engagement activities

Site development for Phase III – Posterity Village and Phase IV – Posterity Point will consist of affordable and market rate homes to create an inter-generational community diverse in nature social-economically. There is a public park that will serve as a gathering space for the community for special events and activities as well as a recreational space and urban garden for residents of the Posterity Heights.

Following years of disinvestment in the southeast area of Fort Wayne, the Posterity Heights development will empower the community residents to improve their lives with access to quality housing, education, healthy food, and quality jobs. In addition, the project will bring new technology that incorporates renewable energy sources that creates a micro-grid for the residential and commercial tenants along with a unique all electric car, shared ride solution to the community to support their transportation needs. This project is already on Indiana Bi-centennial project list and will be the first of its kind in the United States.
